Arne Nature Reserve

A place we had been meaning to go for a while today we finally got there and its only half hour away!

I decided to pack watercolours not my oils as they were the lighter option for lots of walking.

We were not disappointed one of many walks here took us through birch woods open grassland and shoreside with views to Brownsea Island and Poole. A nature lovers paradise.

A Bird hide offered a view out across an inlet to poole harbour and a nice spot for a quick watercolour sketch.

We will definitely come back to Arne and next time I shall pack my oils too. After fantastic fish and chips in Wareham for lunch we headed home.

I was so inspired by Arne and the wooded walks especially the Silver Birch walk I went straight out to the studio and painted from my memory and photo references of the wood to try and recreate the beautiful colours.
