Day 11 Castlepoint – walk to castle rock towering 162m high. Stunningly picturesque ridge walk through woods then out onto the ridge with views across the bays and town.
We did get so far up the rock before the path seemed to disappear and became too sheer for comfort without crampons and ropes!
More steps followed down to the beach.
Aston Norwood Gardens – not on long-sufferings itinery but my own fly by the seat of our pants addition!
Final drive on the beautiful North Island roads down to Wellington and the Ferry over to the south tomorrow.
